Mercedes melds SUV, coupe in new Concept Coupe

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a four-door, all-wheel drive Concept Coupe SUV featuring a 333 hp V-6 and a 9G-TRONIC PLUS 9-speed automatic transmission.

The coupe generates 480 Nm at 1,400-4,000 rpm. Transmission modes can be alternated among comfort, slippery, sport, sport+, and individual settings.

Mercedes-Benz is likening the Concept Coupe SUV approach to how it has parlayed the CLS into the compact CLA class.

“The upright sports grille with single  louvre, framed by the three-dimensionally designed modern, all-LED Multibeam headlamp, is the major feature of the front end with its short, stylish overhand,” according to a news release.

The Coupe’s height of 1.75 meters and “a flat, extended roofline,” per the release, reflects the “hallmark Mercedes coupe design idiom.”

Features such as recessed door handles, frameless side windows are among the additional style touches that blend the coupe and the SUV aesthetics.

The Concept Coupe sits on 22-inch wheels with 305/45 R 22 tires. Its exterior is pained in the Alu Beam finish, harkening back to the Silver Arrows of the 1930s and 1950s, the German automaker says in the news release.
