Neolun concept hints at future large SUV from new Genesis

Genesis is set to unveil an electric full-size SUV concept, the Neolun, at the 2024 New York auto show. This vehicle, likely named GV90 upon production, offers a glimpse into Genesis’ future endeavors.

Ahead of a probable market launch next year, prototypes of the Neolun have already been sighted. The name Neolun, derived from Greek and Latin, signifies “new moon,” reflecting Genesis’ commitment to technological advancement.

The concept embraces a minimalist design ethos, with clean surfaces adorned by light bars serving as headlights and taillights. Genesis aims for simplicity, epitomized by Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke’s concept of reductive design.

Innovatively, the Neolun eliminates traditional B-pillars and integrates features like roof racks and side steps within its body, deploying them when necessary. Access is facilitated by coach-style doors, promising ample entry space and luxurious seating reminiscent of premium automotive brands.

While its avant-garde interior may not fully translate to production, elements like a potential head-up display and premium material usage hint at future Genesis models. The cabin boasts a radiant heating system and opulent materials like cashmere and real wood trim.

The concept’s configuration suggests a possible four-seat layout, with the standard likely featuring three rows of seats. Genesis hints at the feasibility of incorporating coach doors into production, showcasing the concept’s advanced development stage.

In conjunction with the New York auto show debut, Genesis introduces a performance sub-brand, Magma, signaling its commitment to enhancing every vehicle in its lineup, including the forthcoming full-size SUV.
