Genesis debuts X Gran Berlinetta VGT Concept, V-6 hypercar with 1071hp

Genesis presented the X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo concept at the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals in Barcelona, Spain, revealing its upcoming debut in the video game starting January as a full-scale model.

Part of Kazunori Yamauchi’s Vision Gran Turismo series challenge, the hypercar, boasting 1,071 hp, was created by global design teams aiming to craft the ultimate grand tourer, potentially influencing future production models.

While unlikely to enter production, the concept highlights Genesis’ design adaptability and might hint at forthcoming showroom models, potentially an anticipated flagship EV with advanced design elements and technology.

Although not electric, the concept incorporates a hybrid powertrain, featuring a front-midship V-6 engine and a Yasa-engineered lightweight electric motor, delivering a combined peak output of 1,071 hp, yet specifics regarding motor placement and driving wheels remain undisclosed.

Beyond its powertrain, the concept introduces an innovative interpretation of Genesis’ crest grille design, seamlessly linked with the lights that extend around the sides and front fenders, aligning with the double bar motif present in current Genesis cars, prioritizing optimal aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.34.

Envisioned largely in carbon fiber, the construction includes the cabin, incorporating padded areas with quilted detailing in spaces where occupants interact. The interior showcases digital screens on the steering wheel hub and dashboard, the latter displaying both infotainment content and camera footage from side mirror replacements.
