GR-modified Prius unveiled by Toyota prior to 24 Hours of Le Mans race

Toyota has unveiled the Toyota Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition concept, introduced by Toyota Gazoo Racing to commemorate the 100th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race taking place this weekend.

Built upon the standard Prius model, this distinctive concept harnesses a power output of 194 horsepower in its front-wheel-drive setup, while boasting an impressive 196 horsepower when equipped with all-wheel drive. Toyota has not disclosed the precise variant of the Prius that serves as the basis for this visionary concept.

Confirming the absence of any power boost, the concept under discussion showcases Toyota’s ingenuity. In this case, the skilled engineers from Gazoo Racing, the esteemed motorsports and performance division, have focused on optimizing traction limits through the integration of diverse aerodynamic elements.

In addition, a lightweight carbon-fiber alternative has been introduced to replace the hood, effectively reducing the overall weight. The suspension has undergone revisions as well, featuring a broader track to enhance the vehicle’s handling attributes.

Significantly, the concept introduces remarkable 18-inch wheels featuring an aerodynamic design and wider 235/50-size tires, departing from the usual specifications typically associated with a Prius.

Toyota has yet to reveal if the concept vehicle or a comparable model will be manufactured. Nevertheless, should Toyota opt to introduce a high-performance GR Prius model akin to the GR Corolla and other GR-branded options, it is conceivable that specific aspects from this concept could be integrated.
