Nissan Safari Rally Z Tribute: Honoring the legacy of the 240Z champion

Nissan is set to honor the legacy of the victorious 240Z at the 2023 SEMA aftermarket show. Their latest creation, the Nissan Safari Rally Z Tribute, is a unique concept produced by Tommy Pike Customs from South Carolina, known for their work on last year’s Datsun Sunny Truck at SEMA.

The modifications include a specialized suspension with components from Nismo and KW, boosting the ride height by 2.0 inches to accommodate prototype 17-inch Nismo Safari wheels and robust Yokohama Geolandar M/T (G003) tires. Additional features such as underbody protection, Nismo Off Road lighting, and interior enhancements like a custom roll bar, Recaro Pole Position bucket seats, and distinctive trim contribute to the overall design.

The power of the Z’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 has been amplified beyond its standard 400-hp rating by the experts at Illinois’ AMS Performance, although the specific increase wasn’t disclosed.

At the upcoming SEMA show, Nissan plans to present the Safari Rally Z Tribute, alongside a faithful reproduction of their victorious 240Z from the 1971 East African Safari Rally. Although the automaker has yet to confirm any future Z models, fans can anticipate the grand reveal at the Las Vegas event taking place between October 31 and November 3.
