Sporting Nightfall Mica paint, our test vehicle showcases Lexus’ latest spindle-style grille design, complemented by bold faux intakes and dynamic headlights that seamlessly merge into expansive wheel openings, creating a striking visual impression.
Adding to its coupe-like aesthetic, the sleek rear pillars command attention, while the rear fascia opts for Lexus lettering instead of the traditional emblem, further accentuating its luxurious appeal. Within the cabin lies a 14.0-inch screen and user-friendly controls, contributing to a seamless driving experience.
Equipped with an array of features, including the $1,420 Convenience Package, our test car simplifies parking with a composite image from four cameras and offers assistance in stop-and-go traffic through hands-free operation, facilitated by radar and camera integration.
Lexus offers a range of amenities, each enhancing convenience and luxury, such as the Power Rear Door with Kick Sensor ($150), Advanced Park with Remote Park ($480), Premium Triple-Beam LED headlamps ($1,565), and the Mark Levinson Premium Audio System ($1,160). Notably, the Power Rear Door with Kick Sensor can be activated simply by approaching with the key and kicking forward under the middle of the bumper.
The distinctive L-shaped form of the Premium Triple-Beam LED headlamps not only enhances visibility but also commands attention on the road. Additionally, the LED turn signals, boasting superior brightness, further elevate the Lexus’s visibility in traffic, with each headlight comprising three individual light sources for low beam, high beam, and daytime running light (DRL).
PERFORMANCE
Integrating a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors, the 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ features a hybrid powertrain powered by an 18.1-kWh lithium-ion battery, along with an electric AWD system and a CVT with sequential shift mode.
Charging options include Level 1 from a standard plug or Level 2 from a wall box, facilitated by a 6.6-kW on-board charger for a complete recharge in approximately two and a half hours.
During our test drive, we observed that while the CVT enhances fuel economy, it lacks the engagement of the six-speed automatic found in the higher trim hybrid RX and doesn’t fully utilize the capabilities of the AWD system.
Prioritizing efficiency and driving feel over sheer power, the 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ delivers a combined power of 304 horsepower, achieving an estimated zero to 60 mph acceleration in 6.2 seconds.
With an expected electric range of 37 miles, the 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ shares similarities in powertrain with the Toyota RAV4 Prime and the Lexus NX 450h+, aligning closely with their offerings.
