2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid N Line AWD

In the compact crossover market, the 2024 Hyundai Tucson targets five-passenger comfort, rivaling models like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, and Nissan Rogue.

DESIGN

Featuring bold angles and creases, the 2024 Tucson Hybrid N Line showcases a captivating exterior, contrasting with its underwhelming cabin. Its sleek silhouette benefits from clever design elements like hidden exhaust tips and integrated LED daytime running lights.

Exclusive to the N Line model, the Tucson Hybrid N Line is equipped with distinctive 19-inch alloy wheels, N Line front and rear fascia, grille badging, gloss black accents, and a twin-tip exhaust, complementing its sporty aura. Inside, the cabin offers leather-wrapped steering and sport combination seats, adding a sporty flair.

Adorned with mid-grade materials, metallic trim, and a glossy black center console housing a 10.3-inch touchscreen, the Tucson’s interior maintains functionality despite its lack of excitement. Though subdued, the interior elements blend reasonably well.

PERFORMANCE

Beginning with a 180-hp 1.6-liter turbo-4 engine, hybrid versions of the Tucson incorporate a battery pack and electric motor, yielding a combined output of 226 hp. Power is transmitted through a 6-speed automatic gearbox, providing seamless shifts without the usual CVT drawbacks.

The Tucson impresses with its commendable handling and ride comfort, ensuring stability even at high speeds, particularly noticeable in hybrid models. However, its suspension encounters challenges on urban roads, exhibiting sluggish rebound over bumps and a jittery feel on rough surfaces.

VERDICT

The 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid N Line AWD comes with a price tag of $36,405, and after factoring in fees and transportation, the total cost reaches $37,950.

Competiton

Hyundai’s Tucson enters the compact crossover segment, challenging the conventional comfort associated with its rivals, particularly Toyota’s RAV4. Positioned as a direct competitor to the RAV4, the Tucson provides a purposeful alternative, notably in offering hybrid options.

Toyota’s Venza emerges as a pricier yet worthy contender to the RAV4 Hybrid, adding a touch of luxury to the market. Meanwhile, Ford’s Escape, although featuring a softer profile and a less inspiring interior, remains competitive, especially with its plug-in variant.

Once known for avant-garde aesthetics, Acura’s RDX now contends with the evolving design of the Tucson, signaling a shift in the segment’s landscape. Conversely, the Nissan Rogue distinguishes itself with its athletic handling and spacious interior, presenting a significant challenge in the market.
