Chevrolet ends Camaro production

The final sixth-generation Camaro recently concluded its production on December 14, as confirmed by Chevrolet spokesperson Trevor Thompkins.

While Chevy hasn’t officially declared the retirement of the Camaro nameplate, the absence of a successor suggests a definite hiatus, reminiscent of the fourth-generation model’s discontinuation in 2002 after 35 years of continuous production.

The Camaro, having previously experienced a hiatus, returned in 2010 with a fifth-generation model following the success of retro-themed competitors like the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger (which is also concluding production this month).

For the 2024 model year, Chevy announced the Camaro’s departure and marked the occasion with a Collector’s Edition package, featuring unique styling but no performance upgrades.

Speculation surrounding future Camaro models leans towards a significant transformation, with rumors hinting at the possibility of an electric performance sedan or SUV, aligning with GM’s goal to transition its passenger car lineup to all-electric by 2035.
