SF90 XX Stradale secures Fiorano lap record as fastest Ferrari road car

Ferrari’s most recent triumph, the SF90 XX Stradale, has etched its name in the record books by completing a lap at Italy’s Fiorano Circuit in a groundbreaking time of 1:17.309. This achievement firmly establishes the SF90 XX Stradale as the fastest road-legal Ferrari on the manufacturer’s exclusive test track.

The revelation of lap times by Ferrari is a rare occurrence, primarily confined to Fiorano, making it a benchmark for assessing different Ferrari models. The SF90 XX Stradale’s exceptional lap time, surpassing the standard SF90 Stradale by 1.4 seconds, is particularly noteworthy considering Fiorano’s compact length of just under 1.9 miles.

This accomplishment not only outshines the LaFerrari’s lap time by more than two seconds (1:19.70) but also approaches the performance level of a Ferrari 458 Challenge race car (1:16.50). The SF90 XX Stradale achieved this feat with carbon-fiber wheels, semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, and the expert driving skills of Raffaele de Simone, Ferrari’s chief test driver.

Unveiled alongside the SF90 XX Spider in June, both the SF90 XX Stradale and its convertible counterpart embody the extreme spirit of Ferrari’s XX experimental cars while maintaining street-legal status. Boasting peak power at 1,016 hp, they claim a remarkable 0-62 mph time of 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph.

Despite being limited to 799 coupes and 599 convertibles in production, both versions of the SF90 are already sold out, marking a triumphant venture for Ferrari. These models are expected to be the conclusive iterations of the SF90 supercar range, with a successor likely to emerge in the next 12-18 months, evident from public road tests featuring early prototypes.
