Kia is developing an electric pickup truck for sale in North America

Kia is pushing forward with its plans despite the ongoing turmoil around auto tariffs, including introducing a pickup to the U.S. market. Revealed during the automaker’s Investor Day, this move aligns with their broader goals for the next decade, with the electric truck being a centerpiece of their strategy.

The upcoming electric pickup will be Kia’s first U.S. truck, following the Kia Tasman. This model generated plenty of excitement ahead of its global debut last October, though it’s currently available only in international markets. Kia expects the Tasman to hit 80,000 annual units.

While official details remain limited, the new truck will be based on a new EV platform. Kia CEO Ho Sung Song mentioned it would be a mid-size model, with more off-road capability than the Hyundai Santa Cruz. The truck will also feature “best-in-class interior and cargo space” and a “robust towing system,” with Kia aiming for 90,000 units sold annually.
