2024 Hyundai Palisade XRT

The Palisade’s overall shape stands out positively, and its interior design is commendable, yet the front fascia definitely divides opinions. An update last year transformed the front end, introducing sharply styled headlights that impart a striking and somewhat intense demeanor. Choices for the front trim include matte silver accents and darker finishes, leaving us uncertain about which option truly enhances the design.

Our test model, the XRT variant, showcases exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels and faux skid plates that create a unique aesthetic—a blend of rugged charm and urban sophistication. Limited to three paint options, the model we drove came in Hyper White, complemented by a straightforward black interior, making it a pricey proposition.

Inside the cabin, an attractive dashboard features a 12.3-inch touchscreen that spans across all trims. A selection of buttons is neatly arranged, though it takes a moment to navigate through them. Fortunately, the Palisade has avoided the trend of an entirely touchscreen interface, preserving some physical controls for a more user-friendly experience.

PERFORMANCE

The Palisade stands out with its impressive powertrain, featuring a potent 3.8-liter V6 engine that churns out 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. This is seamlessly paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, ensuring robust acceleration for a vehicle of this size. The XRT model also includes standard All-Wheel Drive, along with a Tow Mode introduced in the previous year, adding versatility for various driving needs.

Driving the Palisade is enjoyable, marked by its lively acceleration and smooth ride—qualities my mom also noticed during our time behind the wheel. Although the steering may lack engagement, Sport Mode provides a more spirited experience. This SUV proves to be a comfortable and reliable choice for daily driving. Its quiet cabin and excellent visibility, complemented by 8 inches of ground clearance, make every journey a pleasure.

VERDICT

The 2024 Hyundai Palisade XRT AWD has an MSRP of $43,550, leading to a total price of $45,550.
