Chevrolet’s 2025 Corvette ZR1 shatters performance records, claiming the title of fastest 0-60 mph time ever achieved by a production Corvette. With the optional ZTK Performance Package, it rockets from zero to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds and completes the quarter mile in a blistering 9.6 seconds. This remarkable feat was confirmed by Chevrolet in a statement released Thursday.
Testing took place on a regular dragstrip with 93-octane fuel, paired with Michelin Pilot Cup 2R tires included in the ZTK package. Alongside these grippy tires, the ZTK pack adds features like a carbon-fiber rear wing, front dive planes, and a Gurney lip on the hood, enhancing downforce significantly—over 1,200 pounds at the car’s 233-mph top speed—albeit with added aerodynamic drag.
Cars with standard aero showed a slight edge in trap speed, reaching 152 mph in the quarter mile compared to the ZTK-equipped version. Standard ZR1 models also achieved a 2.5-second 0-60 mph time and a 9.7-second quarter mile. These figures underscore the incredible performance of the C8 Corvette lineup, rivaling times achieved by the E-Ray hybrid and Z06 with the Z07 package.
Even entry-level Stingray models hold their own, hitting 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds with the Z51 package. However, grip is only part of the equation. Former Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter revealed that the ZR1 clocked seven-minute Nürburgring lap times in traffic and from a standing start, hinting at its true potential on a clear track.
Chevy reports that multiple ZR1s have surpassed 200 mph on the Nürburgring’s straightaway, though achieving an official lap record will depend on ideal weather and track conditions. Powering these record-breaking runs is the new LT7 engine, a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 generating 1,064 hp at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm.
An upgraded 8-speed automatic gearbox ensures that power is delivered effectively, with reinforced components to handle the added output. While heavier than the Z06 due to its enhancements, the ZR1’s coupe tips the scales at a dry weight of 3,670 pounds, with the convertible slightly heavier. This next-level Corvette is set to arrive at dealerships next year.
