Sharp angles and bold creases define the exterior of the Tucson, giving it a standout, edgy presence. While the exterior impresses, the cabin feels underwhelming, lacking the excitement found outside.
Clever design details enhance the Tucson’s appearance, like exhaust tips tucked neatly within the rear bumper and a grille that integrates the LED daytime running lights seamlessly.
Inside, the cabin is subdued, featuring mid-tier materials and metallic accents. Limited trims upgrade to a 10.3-inch touchscreen, but the switch to capacitive-touch controls isn’t always an improvement, making the interface feel less intuitive.
PERFORMANCE
Under the hood, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine generates 187 horsepower. While not the most powerful in its segment, it stands out with its smooth and quiet operation. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Tucson delivers a refined driving experience. With a combined 25 mpg EPA rating, it’s also fuel-efficient, and for those seeking more efficiency, Hyundai offers both Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid options.
Ride quality is another highlight, with our all-wheel-drive tester offering confident handling. The steering is responsive, and the Tucson’s compact size makes navigating traffic a breeze. Parking is simplified thanks to a 360-degree overhead monitor, adding to the vehicle’s serene and luxurious feel, making it an excellent all-weather option.
Safety is a strong point, too. Our Limited model came equipped with an extensive suite of technology, including Forward Collision Avoidance, Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, and Smart Cruise Control with Curve Control. This impressive tech package provides peace of mind for all passengers.
