Lucid Motors is catching the attention of former Tesla owners searching for something new. CEO Marc Winteroff shared that 50% of recent orders have come from ex-Tesla drivers, highlighting a noticeable trend of customers reevaluating their loyalty to the brand.
Tesla’s recent struggles under Elon Musk’s leadership have sparked discontent within its community. Public protests, vandalism, and backlash underscore mounting frustrations with the company’s direction.
As Musk’s actions continue to push owners away, many are seeking alternatives, with Lucid Motors standing out. Winteroff confirmed a significant rise in former Tesla owners joining the Lucid fold, with the release of the Gravity SUV acting as a key driver for this change.
Though Lucid has attracted ex-Tesla drivers before, Winteroff noted the recent surge is substantial. “50% of our orders come from previous Tesla customers,” he revealed, with the Gravity SUV playing a key role in drawing former Tesla enthusiasts to Lucid’s expanding lineup.
When asked why so many Tesla drivers are making the switch, Winteroff cited Musk’s controversies and Tesla’s limited model updates as key factors. As Lucid pushes forward with Gravity SUV deliveries, Winteroff promised that production would ramp up by the end of April, offering a compelling alternative to the growing criticisms of Tesla.
Lucid’s Gravity SUV, starting at $94,900 for the Grand Touring trim, will also include a Touring version priced at $79,900. As all Lucid vehicles are made in Arizona, Winteroff addressed concerns about potential price hikes from Trump’s tariff policies, reassuring customers that their American-made production shields them from such increases.
