Preview of 2025 electric SUV: Vision Neue Klasse X concept

BMW is developing its next generation of electric vehicles, dubbed the Neue Klasse, consisting of a sedan and an SUV, slated for release soon and targeting the same segments as the 3-Series and X3.

The SUV will go into production in 2025, with the sedan to follow shortly afterward, reversing previous expectations.

Previewed last year with the Vision Neue Klasse concept for the sedan, BMW recently unveiled a preview of the SUV with the Vision Neue Klasse X concept, featuring revamped signature kidney grilles reminiscent of the original 02 Series.

Blacked-out grilles on the SUV are speculated to integrate sensors for electronic driver-assist features, with similar design elements to the sedan including cleaner surfaces and a panoramic glass roof.

BMW claims the drag on the Vision Neue Klasse X is about 20% lower than current models, promising extended range, and offers a pared-back interior reminiscent of Tesla, featuring minimal analog controls and emphasizing digital interfaces.

The new head-up display system, named Panoramic Vision, projects information at optimal eye level, with a separate 3D-capable head-up display replacing traditional instrument clusters.

Introducing the HypersonX Wheel, BMW presents a digital feature enabling personalized sound experiences, controlled through intuitive interfaces.

Neue Klasse vehicles leverage a next-gen EV platform promising enhanced performance, efficiency, and faster charging, along with a next-generation battery design for a projected 30% increase in range.

Production of the Vision Neue Klasse X is confirmed alongside a redesigned gas-powered X3, likely to be named the iX3 for the electric version, with production slated to begin in Hungary in 2025.

BMW plans to manufacture Neue Klasse EVs in various locations, including Germany, China, and Mexico, starting from 2026 and expanding through 2027.
