Blazer EV SS Makes History as First Electric Pace Car for Daytona 500

NASCAR is taking a bold step by introducing its first-ever electric pace car at the Daytona 500. Chevrolet’s 2025 Blazer EV SS will lead the pack during the race on February 16 at Daytona International Speedway. This will be the Blazer’s inaugural appearance as the pace car. Though the driver is yet to be revealed, the Blazer EV SS will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 615 horsepower.

With a 0-60 mph sprint of just 3.4 seconds and a range of 283 miles, the Blazer EV SS offers impressive performance credentials. Modifications for its pace car role include custom graphics and strobe lighting, ensuring it stands out on track. Chevrolet’s move to include an electric vehicle in this capacity is a pivotal moment for both the brand and electric racing.

In addition to the pace car, Chevrolet will also unveil the Blazer EV.R prototype, developed in collaboration with NASCAR. This electric race car offers a glimpse into the future of electric racing, potentially launching a new series. Ford has also entered the scene, revealing its Mustang Mach-E NASCAR EV prototype earlier this year, highlighting the shift toward electric racing technology across the industry. The 2025 Blazer EV SS starts at $61,995, including a $1,395 destination charge.
