Nissan partnered with drift icon Chris Forsberg to design a striking Frontier street truck concept showcased at the 2024 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
Unveiled as the Frontier Tarmac, this concept debuted alongside the rugged Frontier Project Trailgater, a truck geared for off-the-grid tailgating adventures.
Engineered for high-performance on-road thrills, the Frontier Tarmac is built on a 2025 Frontier PRO-X base. It sports a low, road-hugging stance, powered by a supercharged 3.8-liter V-6 enhanced with a Nismo carbon-fiber cold air intake and exhaust, pushing output to an impressive 440 horsepower.
Bold carbon-fiber flares accentuate the widened fenders, housing 20-inch Nismo wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan tires, measuring 275/40 at the front and 315/35 at the rear. A set of upgraded two-piece floating and slotted brake rotors match the truck’s elevated power.
Equipped with a prototype Nismo suspension featuring adjustable coilovers and remote reservoirs, this setup lowers the truck’s height by six inches, delivering a sharp, aggressive road profile.
While not headed for production, the Frontier Tarmac concept hints at future performance parts that may eventually reach Nissan’s catalog, exciting truck enthusiasts.
Nissan motorsports leader Kevin Lutz noted rising interest in street-tuned trucks, with the Frontier Tarmac setting a new standard. “SEMA was once filled with these low-profile trucks,” he observed, hinting at Nissan’s plans to support customization beyond off-road gear.
