2024 Genesis G70 3.3T RWD

Spotting updates on the 2024 Genesis G70 takes a sharp eye. This model sports a refreshed Genesis logo, dressed in matte Bond Silver with a sleek Fog Gray two-tone interior. Leather seats, detailed with two-tone piping and red stitching, add sophistication and highlight the quilted accents. Signature elements, like the shield grille, twin-slit headlights, and bold fenders, maintain the car’s distinctive presence.

All G70 models now include an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster beside the analog speedometer. The 10.3-inch touchscreen is independent, avoiding the common trend of curved glass displays. Climate controls have been upgraded to a mini touchscreen but remain easy to use at any speed, supported by tactile buttons and knobs.

Cargo space remains compact, with the G70’s 10.5-cubic-foot trunk smaller than the 17 cubic feet in a BMW 3-Series. For road trips, packing lighter might be necessary. Genesis may not yet have broad brand awareness, but the G70 is a sleek, understated sports sedan. Soon enough, its logo will gain wider recognition.

PERFORMANCE

Every G70 comes with a turbocharged engine. Base models now feature a 2.5-liter turbo-4 that produces 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, replacing the former 2.0-liter with a boost of 48 hp and 51 lb-ft. My test model included the stronger 3.3-liter turbo V6, delivering 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic, it launches from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, bringing a deep, thrilling growl.

No electrified G70 is available yet, though the GV70 crossover in the lineup does offer gas and electric options. My tester’s turbo V-6 is EPA-rated at 17 mpg city, 26 highway, and 20 combined. Over roughly 200 miles of mixed suburban driving and stretches through the rural areas of Lodi, the G70 achieved close to its rating, averaging around 20.1 mpg. While not especially fuel-efficient for a compact sedan, it complements the G70’s powerful performance well.

VERDICT

Starting at $49,950, the 2024 Genesis G70 RWD 3.3T Sport Prestige offers solid value in a luxury sports sedan. Adding the $1,500 Bond Silver paint and the $4,400 Sport Prestige Package brings the total to $57,100.
