Hertz offers Tesla Model 3s from $14,000 in fleet sale

Hertz is currently offering Tesla Model 3s for sale, with prices dropping to as low as $14,000 when factoring in the used EV tax credit. In 2021, Hertz committed to electrifying its rental car fleet, starting with a substantial purchase of 100,000 Tesla Model 3s, later expanding to include Model Y vehicles.

Due to the wear and tear inflicted by rideshare drivers and renters following Hertz’s full-scale EV adoption, the company is now selling off a portion of its fleet at significantly reduced prices, ranging between $20,000 and $25,000. It’s crucial to note that these discounted Model 3s are being offloaded due to frequent faults and the associated high repair costs.

Despite potential reliability concerns, there are over 100 Tesla Model 3s available on the Hertz website for under $25,000, featuring odometer readings between 50,000 and 100,000 miles. Bargain hunters nationwide should have the opportunity to find an affordable Model 3, with the possibility of an additional $4,000 IRS used EV tax rebate, bringing the effective price down to $16,500.

For those willing to overlook reliability issues, a used 2021 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus, boasting around 87,000 miles, is attractively priced at $16,500. Noteworthy benefits include access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network and the continuation of the manufacturer powertrain warranty for an additional 13,000 miles.
