Study reveals Tesla drivers lead in accidents, BMW drivers top DUIs

In the recent LendingTree study evaluating 30 automotive brands in the U.S., Tesla drivers stood out with the highest accident rate, recording 24 accidents per 1,000 drivers over the past year. This surpasses all other brands, with Ram and Subaru drivers following closely at 23 and 21 accidents, respectively.

The study delved into quotes for personal vehicle insurance, specifically excluding incidents with rental cars, as clarified by a LendingTree spokesperson in an email the previous week. The analysis covered the period from mid-November 2022 to mid-November 2023.

In contrast, Pontiac, Mercury, and Saturn drivers experienced fewer than 10 accidents per 1,000 drivers during the study period, reflecting a notably lower accident rate compared to the national average.

Furthermore, the study revealed that BMW drivers exhibited the highest propensity for driving under the influence, registering approximately 3 DUIs per 1,000 drivers annually. This rate was twice as high as that of Ram drivers, who ranked second in this aspect.
