Tesla has added new ‘Standard Range’ models to the Model S and Model X lineups, offering shorter driving ranges and lower prices. Previously, only ‘Long Range’ and ‘Plaid’ editions were available since the 2021 revamp.
The ‘Standard Range’ Model S now costs $78,490, $10,000 less than before, with a range of 320 miles per charge – a trade-off of 85 miles compared to the ‘Long Range’ variant’s 405 miles.
Similarly, the updated Model X lineup starts $10,000 cheaper with the new ‘Standard Range’ version. It provides a range of 269 miles, which is 79 miles less than the ‘Long Range’ version.
This move enables Tesla to cater to customers seeking more affordable options within these models. While the driving ranges are reduced, the lower price points could attract a wider range of buyers interested in Tesla’s electric vehicles.
