In a recent video release, Tesla featured the 2023 Model S Plaid Track Package completing a remarkable full lap of the 12.9-mile Nordschleife circuit. The vehicle accomplished this feat in an impressive time of 7 minutes, 25.231 seconds, surpassing the previous record set by a Porsche Taycan Turbo S last year, which stood at 7 minutes, 33.35 seconds.
Notably, the Tesla achieved a top speed of approximately 179.5 mph during the run.
Notably, the lap time of the Tesla is among the swiftest ever recorded for a production car featuring four doors. The Model S Plaid Track Package fell just two seconds short of the record established by a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S in 2020, which stood at 7 minutes and 23 seconds.
In 2021, the Model S Plaid achieved a record-breaking lap time of 7 minutes, 35.579 seconds, establishing itself as the leading production electric vehicle during that period. It is worth mentioning that this recent accomplishment was attained with a conventional round steering wheel, in contrast to the previous record set with Tesla’s distinctive yoke-style steering wheel.
