Tesla has resumed taking orders for its Model 3 long-range vehicle in the United States, as shown on the company’s website. The current price for this version is $47,240, 18.5% less than last year, and deliveries are expected to resume in June, but orders are not yet being taken in Canada.
With a range of “325+” miles per charge, the Model 3 Long Range qualifies for a $3,750 government subsidy, while the Model 3 Performance version receives a $7,500 subsidy. Tesla has been modifying vehicle prices throughout the year to boost sales and slightly raised prices in Canada, China, Japan, and the United States on Tuesday, after previously lowering them.
Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, has stated that in the current economic situation, the company is willing to prioritize sales volume over margin but is also aiming to raise prices where feasible to match output with deliveries. When Model 3 orders were temporarily stopped last year, Musk tweeted that the waitlist was too long and that orders would be enabled again once production increased, in response to a customer inquiry.
