Nissan GT-R NISMO laps the ‘Ring’ in 7:08.679

For the car enthusiast looking for the value of a high-speed performance luxury supercar at a volume production sticker price, Nissan unveils the new Nissan GT-R NISMO.

The GT line (Grand Turismo) is defined and distinguished by its four seats, comfort and speed performance. The R line symbolizes racing; a badge of honor earned by recording impressive speed times on the track circuit. The GT-R and NISMO compete at the highest levels of sport racing events like the Japan Super GT Series and the World Endurance Championships. In 2011 and 2012, Nissan GT-R captured the Super GT Championship.

In September, Nissan Motorsports’ production brand (NISMO) set a new record for a lap by a production car. The impressive lap time of 7:08.679 established a new speed mark for a volume production sports car. The GT-R raced its way to the milestone after 24 years of track testing at the ‘Ring’; the worlds most revered racing circuit in Nürburgring. Achieving an impressive lap time on the Ring is a standard in earning respectability for an elite performance car. GT-R testing began at the ‘Ring’ in 1989, when Nissan first tested the R32 Skyline GT-R and all GT-R models since have showcased their performance at Nürburgring.

What sets the Nissan GT-R apart from the more expensive supercars is its status as a four-door supercar. Its competitors are luxury and hand-built super sports cars; the GT-R is a volume production vehicle.

The performance for price tag value is unprecedented. The attention to quality and technology brings the speed, power handling, performance driving experience and agility of a track circuit vehicle to avid customers for street use.

The new Nissan GT-R NISMO debuts this week at the Tokyo Motor Show and the Los Angeles Auto Show.
