Infiniti Introduces Coupe-Inspired QX65 Monograph Concept SUV At The Quail

Infiniti has introduced the QX65, filling the gap left in its lineup since the QX70 ended production in 2017. This new two-row midsize crossover draws inspiration from the early FX, first seen in 2003 before later becoming the QX70, a model that balanced sport coupe proportions with utility vehicle practicality.

Classic design traits are revisited with modern execution, giving the QX65 a bold stance. Its elongated hood, sharply angled windshield, and coupe-like roofline echo the athletic shape of past models once associated with the “Bionic Cheetah” moniker. Wide shoulders and a confident front fascia, anchored by Infiniti’s recognizable wave-pattern grille, reinforce its performance-driven look.

Despite being billed as a concept, the QX65 Monograph appears very close to a finalized product. Infiniti has made a habit of previewing vehicles in concept form at The Quail that later transition to production with only minor alterations, most recently with the QX80 Monograph that shaped today’s QX80.

Technical specifications remain undisclosed, and the interior has yet to be shown. Platform similarities with the three-row QX60 suggest a turbocharged four-cylinder engine is the most likely choice. As with other Infiniti offerings, a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are strong candidates to come standard across the range.

Massive 22-inch wheels with intricately twisted spokes provide a sense of movement even when stationary. A bronze trim piece arcs over the window line, while at the back, a striking full-width light bar integrates vertical elements inspired by aircraft design. The overall impression is one of refined aggression and sculpted presence.

The concept wears a unique finish called Twilight that shifts between shades of red, purple, and gold depending on the viewing angle. A contrasting black roof is visually divided from the body by the bronze strip. With the QX50 and QX55 leaving Infiniti’s portfolio, the QX65 will soon stand as the brand’s most compact crossover when it reaches showrooms, likely as a 2027 release.

Expectations suggest the cabin will be roomier and more upscale than Infiniti’s departing small SUVs, though entry pricing is likely to climb. More information regarding interior layout, technology features, and trim strategy should surface closer to its full unveiling, which is projected for early 2026 when the production QX65 is shown.
