DB12: Sleek design, upgraded tech, twin-turbo V8, 671hp, 0-60mph in 3.5s, 202mph top speed, electronic differential

Aston Martin has introduced the highly anticipated DB12, marking a significant milestone for the renowned automaker. With enhanced power, improved dynamics, and heightened comfort, this model ushers in a new era. Aston Martin proudly claims it as the world’s first “super tourer” and the most comprehensive and accomplished DB variant in the company’s history.

While the specific powertrain details are yet to be revealed, the optimized twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, sourced from Mercedes-AMG, promises a substantial increase in power, surpassing even the DB11 V12.

With a reengineered V8 engine, the impressive powertrain of the DB12 delivers 671 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 590 pound-feet of torque between 2,750 and 6,000 rpm. This signifies an extraordinary increase of more than 30 percent when compared to its V8 predecessor, surpassing the DB11 AMR and its upgraded 5.2-liter V12 by an additional 41 horsepower.

Accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds and achieving a top speed of 202 mph, the new coupe boasts exhilarating performance.

In order to unleash the full potential of the V8 engine, Aston Martin has introduced a range of significant upgrades. These encompass adjustments to the cam profiles, optimization of compression ratios, incorporation of larger turbochargers, and a complete redesign of the cooling system, which now includes two supplementary auxiliary coolers.

Making its debut in the DB12, an innovative electronic rear differential takes center stage, seamlessly transitioning from complete lock to fully open in a matter of milliseconds. This cutting-edge feature, coupled with the precision of an eight-speed automatic transmission, guarantees an unparalleled driving experience.

Aston Martin has engineered a proficient suspension system for the heightened power, introducing the latest iteration of adaptive dampers and reinforced anti-roll bars. With three driving modes—GT, Sport, and Sport+—the car offers escalating levels of responsiveness and stiffness, ensuring a serene and graceful cruising experience even in the most conservative mode, seamlessly blending comfort with agile performance.

Regarding design, the DB12 retains its iconic essence while receiving a comprehensive makeover. The front fascia showcases a prominent grille, accompanied by new LED headlights, and proudly displays the latest iteration of Aston Martin’s emblem. The lower section features a redesigned splitter, complementing the overall refreshed appearance.

With 21-inch wheels, concealed cast-iron front discs measuring 400 millimeters and rear discs of 360 millimeters, and sleek elements such as frameless side mirrors and flush door handles, the DB12 achieves a sleeker design and reduced drag coefficient.

The DB12’s cabin envelops drivers in an exceptional environment where their needs come first, with a driver-centric center console featuring luxurious Alcantara leather. Aston Martin’s exclusive infotainment system, designed specifically for this model, offers wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an advanced navigation system with online connectivity and 3D mapping, a dedicated mobile application, and over-the-air update capabilities.

Deliveries of the highly anticipated DB12 are slated to begin in the third quarter of this year, with pricing details expected closer to the official release date.
