2024 BMW XM Label Red: powerful plug-in-hybrid with 738-hp, 60-mph in 3.7 secs, and 30-mile electric range

BMW is preparing to introduce the 2024 XM Label Red, a model that features an electrified powertrain capable of generating 738 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. This is achieved by combining a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine with an electric motor positioned between the engine and the eight-speed automatic transmission.

With a variable, rear-biased all-wheel-drive system, the XM Label Red is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, according to BMW, which is 0.4 seconds faster than the previous version. Although the car is limited to a top speed of 155 mph, the optional M Driver’s package can increase it to 175 mph.

Adaptive dampers, active anti-roll bars, an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential, and M compound brakes with fixed six-piston front calipers and floating single-piston rear clampers are all included with the SUV. The vehicle also comes with 23-inch wheels as standard, with the option to swap to a set of 22-inchers at no additional cost. As with the standard XM, the Label Red is anticipated to come with summer tires.

With a 19.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the XM Label Red offers an estimated electric driving range of 30 miles, and a full recharge of the battery takes three hours and 15 minutes using a 7.4-kW onboard charger. Although BMW did not provide fuel-economy estimates, the Label Red’s electrical system is anticipated to be the same as the standard XM.

Red accents can be found inside the cabin, including on the dashboard HVAC vents and stitched surfaces. The XM Label Red also includes BMW’s curved glass panel, which integrates a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen with iDrive 8.5 infotainment software. Additional standout features comprise a head-up display, a three-dimensional headliner, M-specific controls, and a Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound system.

An assortment of driver assists is available on the XM Label Red, including BMW’s semi-autonomous drive mode, which allows for hands-free driving on select roads at speeds of up to 85 mph. The production of this luxury SUV is set to begin at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant in August 2024.1
