2024 Acura Integra Type S: Turbocharged, 320hp, and hitting U.S. showrooms this June

The Acura Type S model utilizes parts from the Civic Type R hatchback, including its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine. However, Acura has tuned the Type S to produce 320 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, which is 5 horsepower more than the Civic. Acura attributes this increase to the Integra’s unique exhaust system, although it could also be a matter of bragging rights.

Although the Acura Integra Type S has a power difference, its acceleration performance is expected to be similar to the Civic Type R as the former is only 30 pounds heavier. The Type S features a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching and a standard limited-slip differential.

Chassis upgrades are also included in the Type S, such as wider front and rear tracks. Additionally, the Integra shares the same dual-axis front suspension setup as the Civic Type R, which is designed to reduce torque steer. The Type S offers adaptive dampers that adjust based on the selected drive mode, which includes Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.

Upgraded with larger rotors, the car’s brakes are equipped with lightweight 19-inch wheels and 265-series Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires. Additionally, the Integra A-Spec provides adaptive dampers.

With its widened fenders and aggressive stance, the Type S maintains a distinct look. However, it distinguishes itself from the Civic by forgoing the giant rear wing, and opting for a more subtle appearance with its air intakes, front splitter, and rear diffuser.

According to Acura, the Integra’s active exhaust produces a more impressive sound than the Civic’s, especially in Sport+ mode, featuring numerous pops and bangs. The Type S comes in seven colors, including blue, white, and the striking Tiger Eye Pearl gold shade available on the TLX and MDX Type S models.

Featuring front seats with added bolstering, the Type S boasts a leather and suede upholstery combination in either red, black, or white. Unlike the Civic Type R, some features, such as a head-up display and a 16-speaker ELS audio system, are exclusive to the Type S.

Equipped with adjustable lumbar support, the power-adjustable, heated driver’s seat is among the Type S’s features. As a four-seater, the car lacks a center rear seating position. The 9.0-inch touchscreen display features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.

Pricing for the Acura Integra Type S, which will be available for purchase in the U.S. in June, is yet to be announced and will be disclosed closer to the launch date.
