It is said that without proper care of your motorcycle, it can lead to faults, which could lead to being unable to avoid an accident. If this does happen however, you can be awarded by the court if you are injured.

12 TIPS TO HELP KEEP YOUR MOTORCYCLE LOOKING FINE!

These 12 points are the ones that it is recommended to check with a certain periodicity to ensure good maintenance of the motorcycle:

  1. Spark plug change: Between 6,000 and 12,000 kilometers you will have to change the spark plugs. If you don’t, you will notice that your motorcycle loses power, consumes more fuel, or even won’t start. To access the spark plugs, you will have to remove the seat and remove the dirt before fitting the new spark plugs.
  1. Changing lights: You should never ride without lights on the motorcycle. To access the headlight bulb, the first thing you have to do is remove the headlight holder, and then remove the rubber that protects the bulb. Finally, you can replace the bulb.
  1. Changing brake pads: Knowing when to change your motorcycle’s brake pads is relatively simple. You just have to observe and check the wear. If you circulate more in the city than on the road, they will wear out more frequently.
  1. Change brake fluid: When the amber brake fluid turns to a darker range, it is time to change it. At the time of change, you have to be very careful not to spill it, as it is a quite corrosive liquid (can cause burns to the skin).
  1. Changing wheels: It is important to regularly check the pressure and the condition of the wheels. If the tire tread is less than 1.6mm deep. the time has come to replace them.
  1. Battery change: The useful life of the batteries is usually 4 years. As the date approaches, check its status and consider replacing it to prevent a good day from starting.
  1. Monitor the exhaust pipe: It is important to regularly inspect the exhaust pipe in order to detect leaks, unusual noises or loss of power from the motorcycle. To do this, the first thing is to disassemble the exhaust pipe, then clean it and remove the dirt, immersing it in a mixture consisting of 1 part of caustic soda to 8 parts of water.
  1. Oil change: It is advisable to check the oil every 5,000 kilometers. Depending on the kilometers you do per year, you will have to change it more or less regularly.
  1. Clean the air filter: Every 10,000 kilometers it is recommended to clean or change the air filter. The filter is responsible for preventing dirt from entering the engine. If you drive through dusty or polluted terrain on a regular basis, you will have to change it more frequently.
  1. Coolant: It is in charge of protecting the motor of the motorcycle, especially with extreme temperatures in winter or summer. It should be changed at least every two years.
