2015 Shelby GT

Shelby American has announced the Shelby GT muscle car modification for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, adding a 627 hp supercharger, a performance handling kit and a bevy of other features. Shelby is making the mod available in the U.S. and overseas – where mod shops are being established.

Orders for the post-title modification, which will set Mustang owners back an additional $39,995 on top of the price of the car, are now being taken. Delivery is planned for the “beginning of the second quarter of 2015,” according to a company statement.

The Shelby GT was first born out of a collaboration between Ford Division, Carroll Shelby and Ford Racing in 2007. The 4.6-liter Mustang GT’s were built by Ford, and then shipped to Shelby in Las Vegas for modification. Between 2007 and 2008, nearly 8,000 were built and performed in the SCCA racing class. A five-year hiatus followed, but Shelby GT returned in 2013.

The 2015 model features exclusive parts built from lightweight carbon fiber, including the new hood. The new billet aluminum front grille is one of several parts that allow for customization. Ford Racing Performance Parts are also used, from the 627 hp supercharger upgraded gearing – there are 3.73 gears added – and the chrome-tipped Borla exhaust. The Shelby GT sports WELD Racing wheels sitting in Michelin tires.

The 2015 Shelby GT can be built on either a manual or automatic Mustang GT and emission-legal in all 50 states.

High-end upgrades available include 700-plus hp performance upgrade, adjustable suspension, upgraded big brake kit and upgraded interior. Each owner of the Shelby GT will receive a Shelby American CSM number entering their vehicle into the official Shelby American Worldwide Registry.

“In addition to a superb facility in Las Vegas, Shelby is establishing mod shops worldwide,” said Neil Cummings, Co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing.
