Lexus announces GS F sedan with 467 hp 5.0-liter V-8

Lexus will debut the GS F four-door ‘performance sedan,’ an all-new model in the luxury carmaker’s high-performance “F” line, next week.

The GS F follows the RC F coupe and shares the chassis with the GS 350 F SPORT, but will very different under the hood – it is powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 that produces 467 hp at 7,100 rpm and generates 389 lb.-ft. of torque 4,800-5,600 rpm.

The car will be equipped with a 8-speed automatic transmission with manual-shifting options, Lexus said in a statement. Otto and Atkinson combustion cycles are used in the engine to “maximize power and efficiency in given situations,” the company added.

Also standard in the GS F is Lexus’ vaunted Torque Vectoring Differential, which includes three modes – standard, slalom and track – for optimized driving. The TVD is standard in the RC F coupe as well.

The Lexus GS F will be formally unveiled at the NAIAS at Cobo Center in Detroit at 8:40 a.m. EST Jan. 13.
