Tesla gets its upgrade team

We might be seeing the future of great cars evolving before our very eyes. Bulletproof Automotive has introduced Unplugged Automotive, a tuning company designed specifically for the Tesla Model S.

Unplugged Performance – which is adjacent to Tesla’s Hawthorne Design Center – figures to be the electric car’s version of BMW’s M, and Mercedes-Benz’s AMG. It’s not as if the Model S needed any upgrades, but they certainly never hurt, especially among car enthusiasts.

Unplugged Performance is focusing on a holistic package for upgrading the Model S; that is to say they intend to address all three aspects of the Tesla: aesthetics, performance, and luxury. The latter two aspects are currently being designed and developed at Unplugged’s factory, while the aesthetics upgrades are already available.

The company is currently offering a complete front fascia system, front spoiler and diffuser system, side skirt set, rear under spoiler and diffuser system, and a trunk spoiler. Model S owners can choose any of these upgrades, or order them all as a set. Unplugged’s design team figures to have performance and luxury upgrades available in the near future.

It may not seem like it at first glance, but this is a big step forward for the automotive world. Electric cars are the future, and the more companies there are to prove that current iterations of the electric car are not just capable alternatives, but often better than their competitors, the better.

We can’t wait to see these bad boys on the road.
