Three little letters bring so much excitement to the already exhilarating Mercedes-Benz brand. Those three letters of course are AMG.
The new S63 AMG Coupe comes to market with an impressive array of power and luxury. The 5.5-liter V-8 bi-turbo engine produces 585 horsepower. The Magic Body Control suspension further enhances the driving performance.
Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG said, “The new S63 AMG coupe is another exciting AMG dream car in the luxury segment.”
While this high-performance luxury car has amazing power output it also does so while decreasing fuel consumption, thanks in part to new lightweight construction.
The weight saving was achieved thanks to use of a lightweight lithium-ion battery, light-alloy wheels and a weight optimized composite braking system. Total weight reduction is 65 kilograms, according to specs released by Mercedes. The combined fuel consumption average is 27.9 mpg.
Acceleration is not reduced. The S63 AMG Coupe has a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. This engine is the latest in the BlueDirect family, and has a 41 hp increase over the previous generation.
The S63 will have the AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission. Drivers will be able to choose the method of shifting from C (controlled efficiency), S (sport) and M (manual) modes for shifting. The ECO start/stop is a standard option too.
The interior has everything one would expect from a Mercedes including fine workmanship and exquisite touch points. The newly developed AMG sports seats with electrical adjustment offer the driver optimal lateral support. AMG badges are included on all seats and the AMG emblem is embossed on the armrest of the center console.
The S63 AMG Coupe will make its world debut at the New York International Auto Show in April. The UK Market launch will be by the end of this year.
