April 1964, Ford introduced the Mustang; now 50 years later the iconic symbol of American motor excellence and Americana celebrates its birthday as the next generation speeds into the next half-century and beyond.
One birthday celebration is hardly worthy for a car that has captivated and inspired dreams, so Ford Motor Company and the Mustang Club of America will host separate events to commemorate the milestone.
Next year from April16-April 20, 2014, events will be open to the public at two historic racing locations: The Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada and and the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
The tentative schedule of events are:
*On Wednesday, April 16 (The first official day of the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration) vendors and exhibits begin.
*On April 17, the Mustang Club of America will host opening ceremonies and activities. Fans will enjoy a cake and everyone singing “Happy Birthday.” Other events include Ford ride-and-drives, hot laps and interactive activities. Car displays, vendors and exhibits will all be hosted.
*On Friday, April 18, track events such as road racing, drag racing and other interactive driving events will be hosted. Car displays, vendors and special exhibits will be on on site. Mustang Club of America will host a dinner with live entertainment.
*On Saturday, April 19 , evening events will feature the Saturday Night Banquet, with guest speakers and entertainment.
*On Sunday, April 20, Easter Sunrise Services will be offered at both tracks along with parade laps around both speedways and photo opportunities. Mustang Club of America will have closing ceremonies in the afternoon.
Ford enthusiasts, young and old are encouraged to join the celebration and share their memories and stories of the Ford Mustang. Events will be memorable for fans at both locations including a display at both venues featuring the various and distinct models of the 50 years of Mustang; iconic vehicles from 1964 through the 2015 edition of the vehicle that has 5.5 million “likes”; the most of any vehicle on Facebook.
Fans from across America and the globe are invited to express their love and passion for vintage Mustangs, Shelby or Boss as the flagship of Ford Motors sports cars and a symbol America celebrates 50 years of racing across roads and highways and into our hearts.
