Mercedes-Benz announces CLA45 AMG Racing Series

The CLA45 AMG Racing Series concept advances Mercedes-AMG motorsport line with a “competitive, near-standard racing car … in the popular four-cylinder segment,” AMG has announced ahead of the Frankfurt Auto Show, where the concept will unveiled.

The specs for the CLA45 AMG Racing Series will differ according to race rules and race series, but generally, AMG is aiming for the 2.0-liter turbocharged car segment with its latest.

The suspension level, spring rate and damper characteristics of the Racing Series are adjustable and it comes equipped with the AMG high-performance braking system.

The CLA45 AMG is constructed from carbon-fiber and includes new front and rear apron, flared wings and side sill panels.

Inside, highlights include a carbon-fiber P 1300 GT racing bucket seat from Recaro and an integrated fire extinguishing system.
