McLaren P1 nears production

McLaren Automotive is in the final stages of testing the McLaren P1 supercar before commencing a production run of 375 cars. To ratchet up the hype, the British automaker has released a video of a P1, in Carbon Black, tested in Arizona and California deserts, where temperatures reached 126°F / 52°C.

McLaren and its partners Akebono and Pirelli have been working closely on the P1 and the car’s bespoke braking system and tires are unique and “most advanced of any car road car ever produced,” McLaren touts in a news release.

McLaren is celebrating its 50th anniversary this month and plans to begin delivering the McLaren P1 shortly thereafter.
