Jaguar C-X17 concept fully revealed for Frankfurt

Ahead of its unveiling at the Frankfurt Auto Show, Jaguar has released details of the C-X17, its first-ever sports crossover concept vehicle.

The C-X17 features the company’s crown jewel:  brand new aluminum monocoque architecture – codenamed iQ[Al] within Jaguar until now – that is lightweight yet durable and sustainable. It “will form the basis for a new range of future Jaguars,” the British company said in a statement, noting the first production vehicle with the aluminum material will be a mid-size sedan arriving in 2015.

A line-up of all-new gasoline and diesel engines built at Jaguar Land Rover’s new UK engine factory will be available in the new C-X17 and enable the car to reach speeds of 186 mph yet produce lower emissions.

The interior of the C-X17 will feature the interactive Surface Console, a social media-driven, multi-screen infotainment system for passengers to interact with each other and people outside the car.

The C-X17 is 4,718 mm in length and 1,649 mm in height but shares signature Jaguar traits, such as a grille that was inspired by the Jaguar XJ luxury sedan and design similar to that of the Jaguar F-TYPE sports car. The concept is outfitted with 23-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps and is presented in Caesium Blue body color.
