The Bentley of SUVs is here: it’s called the Bentayga

Bentley Bentayga

The words “Bentley” and “SUV” have not been used in the same sentence — until now. This week, Great Britain’s Bentley Motors ushered in the all-new Bentayga SUV at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

The Bentayga is powered by a 12-cylinder engine and races to 60 mph in 4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 187 mph – all figures that certainly lend credence to Bentley’s statement that this is the most powerful and luxurious SUV ever made.

Bentley’s signature looks are throughout the new SUV – yes, it’s still hard to process we’re talking about a Bentley SUV – with four round headlights and the trademark “B” floating wing logo prominently displayed above the grille.

The Bentayga features luxurious wood and leather trims as customary with Bentley’s cars, but is also a haven of state-of-the-art technology. The SUV sports a 8-inch touch screen on the dashboard and a 60 GB hard drive. The new Bentley Entertainment Tablet, a 10.2-inch Android device for passengers, is standard.

Bentley is planning to grow the Bentayga line-up by offering models with clean diesel and plug-in technology, along with a SUV that seats seven people.

The first-ever SUV from the British automaker will be delivered to customers early next year at a base price of $229,100, and Bentley is building 3,600 Bentaygas for the initial launch, according to the Palm Beach Post, which cited USA Today and Business Insider.
