Ferrari 458 Speciale A live photos: 2014 Paris Motor Show

Ferrari knows how to turn heads. Look no further than the newest beast out of the Italian automaker’s stable: the 458 Speciale A. The A stands for Aperta and and if you guessed the V-8 “Spider” is a limited edition – you were right. Only 499 lucky Ferrari collectors worldwide will get one (sometime after the supercar is displayed at the Paris Motor Show this week).

The naturally-aspirated V-8 that powers the 458 Speciale A is as powerful as it is efficient, generating 398 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,000 rpm, 597 horsepower (135 cv/l specific power output), yet CO2 emission is 275 g/km. Ferrari engineers shaved off 50 kg from the Speciale’s siblings by installing an aluminum retractable hard top that can be removed or put back in 14 seconds.

And speaking of seconds … let’s just say there is hardly a chance the 458 Speciale A will ever be anything other than first. The supercar reaches 62 mph from 0 in 3.0 seconds, and according to Ferrari, its lap time at Fiorano test track was a sizzling 1:23.5.
