New Cadillac flagship sedan named CT6

Cadillac today announced that its new flagship sedan will be called the CT6.

According to Uwe Ellinghaus, Cadillac chief marketing officer, “The Cadillac CT6 continues our brand’s elevation and global growth. CT6 will constitute an entirely new approach to the prestige sedan, emphasizing a dynamic driving experience and advanced technology.”

When it launches in late-2015, the CT6 will be positioned above today’s CTS and XTS product lines.

That’s not all: Cadillac also announced a brand-new scheme that calls for a more simplified naming convention for future Cadillac models. Cadillac’s of the future will use familiar lettering like the CT, with numerical suffix indicating the relative size and position of the cars in the hierarchy of Cadillac models.

The new flagship sedan will be assembled in Detroit.
