Volvo Concept Coupe foreshadows future, echoes the past

The Volvo Concept Coupe is the Scandinavian automaker’s first of three concept cars bearing future-minded designs from new Scalable Product Architecture.

The architecture is at the core of Volvo’s plans for the future as the company seeks to add “emotional value,” according to a statement.

The concept features a 2-liter Drive-E petrol engine with a supercharger and turbo. Paired with an electric motor on the rear axle, the Volvo Concept Coupe produces 400 hp and more than 600 Nm of torque.

The concept includes a low bonnet, roof and five-spoke, 21-inch wheels. Some of the design in the concept incorporates elements of the Volvo P1800 from the 1960s but includes state-of-the-art features.
