Porsche releases Panamera Diesel details

The 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel will feature a 3.0-liter V-6 engine that generates 300 horsepower, up from 250 hp in the previous model.

The added 20 percent of power translate to a 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.0 seconds flat and a top speed of 259 km/h, up from 244 km/h before. Torque is up 100 Newton meters to 650 Nm at 1750 rpm and 2500 rpm.

The V-6 engine reconfiguration includes a new crankshaft drive, pistons and includes a water-cooled turbocharger for the first time.

The Diesel is equipped with a controlled rear-axle differential lock with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) as standard equipment for the first time. The feature was only found in petrol engine Gran Turismo models before.

The 8,500 Panamera Diesel vehicles delivered so far account for about 15 percent of total Panamera deliveries. The Panamera Diesel will arrive at dealerships in January 2014 at the base price of 85,300 euros.
