Lexus announces winners of 2014 IS sport sedan SEMA Contest

Lexus and DeviantART held a contest to find the freshest, out-of-the-box ideas for customizing the all-new 2014 IS sport sedan and have announced the winner and two runners-up. The winner’s rendering will be implemented on an actual IS and showcased at Lexus’ space during the Specialty Equipment Market Assocation (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas Nov. 5-8.

The third-generation IS already sports an edgier exterior, but Lexus executive sought out innovative designers to push the creativity even further. More than 600 submissions later, four judges winnowed them down to 25 and announced first, second and third place. Rob Evans from Seattle, Wash., took first place and his rendering will be built and displayed at the SEMA show. The second place winner was Lucia Lee of Pasadena, Calif. Third was Guanghao Huang from Southfield, Mich.

Evans will receive a one-year lease of a 2014 Lexus IS F SPORT; $2,000; a trip to this year’s SEMA Show and 8,000 deviantART points plus a 1-year premium membership to deviantART.

The four judges were Brian Bolain, Lexus corporate manager marketing communications; Clark Ishihara, VIP AutoSalon president; Nate Martinez, Motor Trend associate online editor; and Alex Shen, Calty Design Research, Inc. studio chief designer.
