Galpin Auto Sports unveils 1,000 hp Ford GTR1 at Pebble Beach

Galpin Auto Sports is rolling out its customized Ford GTR1, the first supercar from the high-volume dealership’s performance division. The GTR1, which can generate more than 1,000 hp from a twin turbocharged V-8 and reach up to 225 mph, was unveiled at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering Thursday and will be displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Based on the Ford GT “as an interpretation of what the GT may have looked and performed like had it continued its evolution,” Galpin’s GTR1 is equipped with a twin turbocharged 5.4-liter V-8 engine that generates up to 1,024 hp and 739 pound feet of torque.

Designed by Galpin Auto Sports in North Hills, Calif., the hand crafted, all-aluminum body is five inches wider than the original Ford GT.  The GTR1 concept is outfitted with 20-inch forged aluminum knockoff wheels, Pirelli P-Zero tires, six-piston brakes with full carbon rotors.

Inside is a McIntosh sound system and hand-fabricated leather trimmed seats, dash, door panels and headliner. The Galpin Ford GTR1 will be limited in production, with a choice of aluminum or carbon fiber bodies.

Additional information, including a full list of technical specifications and pricing will be released soon.
