U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang GT nets $398,000 at auction

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang GT has netted $398,000 at the Gathering of Eagles charity auction last week, where James Slattery, of San Diego, Calif., became the winning bidder.

The Gathering of Eagles auction took place during the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, a week-long event that concluded Sunday at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wis.

The funds raised through the auction go towards subsidizing the EAA Young Eagles program, which provides introductory flights and has served more than 1.6 million youth since 1992. This Mustang GT joins five other Mustangs created by Ford for this cause in recent years, generating $2.5 million.
