2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG revealed ahead of Frankfurt debut

Initial specs about the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, one of the most drool-inducing AMG models on the market, is finally here. The numbers are devastatingly lovely: a 5.5-liter V-8 Biturbo engine with 585 hp and 900 Nm of torque, a 0 to 62 mph sprint in 4.0 to 4.4 seconds, depending on model variant, and a top, electronically set speed of 155 mph.

Did we mention that with a lighter body, the S63 AMG boasts fuel efficiency of just under 28 mpg?

All told, the car is 100 kilograms lighter than its predecessor thanks to forged light-alloy wheels, a lighter lithium-ion battery and a weight-optimized high-performance composite brake system. The S63 AMG body, from the roof to the front end, is aluminium, while the spare wheel recess is made of carbon fiber, cutting additional weight.

The S63 AMG with rear-wheel drive features AMG sports suspension based on Magic Body Control, a feature exclusive to the S-Class that enables the car to recognize road surface discrepancies in advance and adjust.  This AMG specimen will be available in short, long and 4MATIC variants and formally unveiled in September at the Frankfurt Auto Show before appearing at dealerships later in the year. Pricing was not announced.
