Not one to rest on their laurels, the Chrysler Group’s SRT (Street and Racing Technology) has unleashed the Viper TA on the world.

Now, they say that TA stands for Time Attack, but it really should be Totally Awesome! Limited to just 33 units, this uplevel snake was designed to be driven to track days at any of the 150 road-race courses that are scattered across this great nation.

Building on what’s already a great performance vehicle, the TA really takes it to the next level. Highlights include suspension adjustments that were specifically tuned for the track, a new aero package, as well as the aforementioned Time Attack package. As far as performance goes, the engine has been untouched, and the curb weight comes in at 3,348 pounds.

Speaking of the suspension bits, a two-mode Bilstein DampTronic suspension system features firmer damping than what’s found on the GTS models. Shock dampers, springs and road racing derived stabilizer bars have been retuned for optimal track performance, as well as a lighter carbon fiber X-brace that increases the torsional rigidity and stiffness by up to 50 percent. An improved braking system that was co-developed by Brembo helps reign in the beast safely, hiding by Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, which are mounted on ultra-lightweight Sidewinder II wheels.

Moving to the outside of the vehicle, the aero package consists of a carbon fiber front splitter/rear spoiler. On the inside, potential budding race car drivers can opt for either 3 or 6 point harnesses for both the driver and the passenger. Orange stitching complementing surfaces throughout the interior brighten up what would otherwise be the same inside as the GTS.

“The new 2014 SRT Viper TA is being engineered for the dedicated track enthusiast, who still wants to drive to the track and take their hobby to the next level” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO – SRT Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC. “We’re re-launching some of the fastest production-built cars that people can buy straight from the factory. Our engineers revised the suspension settings to refocus the Viper specifically for track duty, using a blend of components from the GTS and the SRT models, add in the extensively developed aero package and the new Time Attack package is born. We’re not only saluting the existing capabilities of our current models, we’re also targeting another niche in our customer base with a tremendously capable track machine.”
